One year...when we were still in the renting stage of life, we inheirted a very weedy backyard! It was half weeds and half tough playground grass. We didn't have any money and our landlord wouldn't put sod down. So...every day that summer I put sunscreen on the baby and laid him on a blanket and set Olivia up with her play dishes and started pulling the weeds one at a time. This was a lawn, mind you! I knew I had to get every runner and I was determined to have a weed free lawn! And I did...eventually. By the end of the summer the good grass took over the bare spots and we had a beautiful lawn...and I had a great tan!As gardeners, we can take this same determination to the challenges that face us in 2009. No matter the circumstance, or how bleak the ecomony looks, or how impossible our situation...don't give up. Keep hope alive! Hope encourages perserverance...perserverance builds character... and character never gives up hope! Its a beautiful circle! Don't quit!
